Are you ready for the holidays?

Ready or not, they will soon be here and there is no better way to promote your store, attract new customers, thank current customers, and garner your share of the holiday spending than participating in Small Business Saturday. It’s typically the Saturday after Black Friday, and this year, the nationally-observed day falls on November 26th. Don’t miss this great opportunity to showcase your store’s goods, services, and exceptional employees. Some ideas to consider:Partner with other local small businesses

  • Partner with other local small businesses and share the cost of “Small Business/Shop Small” tote bags that can be stuffed with in-store coupons and advertisements of all the participating stores. Each retailer can then hand them out at their location, helping to spread awareness of all the businesses by reaching a broader group of shoppers. It’s also a great way to show support for your fellow small businesses.
  • Have spontaneous “sale” events over your PA system (think Blue Light Specials!)
  • Invite a few local artisans or crafters in to sell their hand-made creations
  • Provide snacks, cookies, coffee, etc. – free treats are always a draw
  • Engage all of your employees in the event to ensure all shoppers are greeted and welcomed
  • Promote! Be sure to get the word out through local papers, window signs, bag stuffers, Facebook and other online outlets, such as blogs and your website. Also encourage word-of-mouth through your employees about this event and any future holiday promotions.

There are numerous websites that have ideas and resources to help you, the small business owner, not only on this day but throughout the year.
