Hamacher Resource Group Enhances its TEMPS Category Manager Program to Improve Ease of Use and Speed Implementation

Waukesha, Wisconsin – January 16, 2019 – Hamacher Resource Group has updated its TEMPS® Category Manager program, adding value in a number of areas and personalizing it to help their independent pharmacy customers get the most from the monthly merchandising tool. Many areas have been enhanced, including the Category Strategy, which contains an overview of trends and changes occurring in the category, and the Never Outs®, Priority Listing, and New Item Alert pieces.

The Category Strategy, written by HRG category analysts, has been reformatted for easier reading and personalized to include the flowgram for the specific-size planogram the store receives. In addition, the merchandising strategy offers tips as well as cross-merchandising suggestions to help customers increase sales and improve the shopping experience.

Never Outs are the top-selling items within a subcategory, as determined by HRG analysts, and should always be on independent pharmacy shelves, regardless of the shelf space devoted to the category. HRG’s Priority List is a subset of Never Outs for those stores that have a very small front-end footprint with departments that are smaller than planogram sizes available. These both now include barcodes for each product on the list, making it easy for store staff to scan right off the sheet and order from their wholesale distributors if they are out of any of these high-demand items.

The New Item Alert piece showcases new-to-the-market items that have received a coveted HRG Star. This piece also now includes barcodes so pharmacies can simply scan to order from their wholesale distributor.

Tom Boyer, HRG's director of national accounts and member of the owners group, said, “Since TEMPS was first introduced nearly 40 years ago, we have annually reviewed the program because the market varies and needs change, so we take all of that into consideration and see where we can improve usability and the impact for our customers. One of the goals of our TEMPS program is to help independent pharmacies keep their assortment fresh and their customers engaged, and because we realize time is at a premium for these stores, we want to do what we can to improve the speed of implementation for staff. The enhancements we have made this year will offer significant efficiencies and productivity gains for them as they execute our monthly category merchandising updates.”
