While vitamin C has been a popular ingredient in skin care for several years, it becomes ineffective when it oxidizes. Ron Robinson, founder and CEO of BeautyStat, heard this frustration again and again from readers of his blog. A cosmetic chemist for 35 years, Robinson decided to find a solution.
“I spent many years working with my team
formulating the type of product that would remain stable. We got several patents on this technology, we did a clinical test on that final formula, and it delivered fantastic results. In addition to evening out skin tone and fading hyperpigmentation and dark spots, it made skin healthy and bright. Based on those results, I decided to launch the brand, BeautyStat.”
BeautyStat was the name of Robinson’s blog before it became a skin care brand. “Through my blog, I was reviewing other types of products and it was there that I gained a one-to-one relationship with my reader base. I’ve become an educator where I help consumers understand ingredients, what products work, what ingredients work, et cetera.” Maria Shirley, director of marketing at BeautyStat, noted the importance of Robinson’s role as an educator, addressing consumers’ questions and concerns through his social channels: Instagram and TikTok. “He’s helping consumers find the right products that best fit and solve their skin concerns.”

The inaugural BeautyStat product was the Universal C Skin Refiner, a serum formulated to improve skin appearance, and it is still a top seller today. Another popular item is the Universal Triple Action Daily Peel. Robinson says, “This basically gives a dermatologist professional peel result at home. It contains a blend of time-release salicylic acid, lactic acid, glucosamine, and is working to help exfoliate or texturize the skin. One swipe around your face and your skin is left glowing, radiant again. It retexturizes, refines skin, and you get clinical results in just one usage. Gentle enough, yet effective enough you could use it every day.”

The Universal C Eye Perfector is formulated for the eye area. In addition to the pure, patented, stable vitamin C, Robinson says it contains caffeine, green tea, and magnolia extract. “It’s clinically proven to help reduce dark circles, bags, and crow’s feet.”
Shirley indicated they will be launching two new shades of their C Lip Serum SPF 30 the second week of February. Robinson said, “We’ve brought our technology with stabilizing pure vitamin C into this lip serum treatment that also contains mineral sunscreen SPF 30, so consumers not only get sun protection in this product, they’re also getting vitamin C which helps to brighten the lips, and even out skin tone around the lips as well. It also contains peptides to plump the lips, so it’s really a multitasker, three-in-one. There’s nothing on the market like it.”
BeautyStat products are available through their website, Ulta Beauty website and stores, and Amazon.

Robinson and Shirley shared they have celebrity fans, including Hailey Bieber and Bethenny Frankel. Robinson said he is the chemist in residence for Bieber’s Rhode line of cosmetics and that the connection came about based on the fact that she was a big fan of BeautyStat’s vitamin C serum, as well as the eye cream and moisturizer. Shirley said Frankel is a fan of the Universal Triple Action Daily Peel.
Shirley said they have supported Girls in STEM, a non-profit created by girls, for girls, noting that the organization, “reflects our commitment to closing the STEM education gap and inspiring the next generation of beauty industry scientists.”
Robinson said the company’s mission is to answer consumers’ skin care needs with innovative products that deliver clinical proven results and also just feel good from a texture perspective and all aesthetics. “We just want to make sure that we really deliver great results for consumers and just delight them in every way.”
