Creative merchandising can help shoppers ensure they have oral care essentials on hand. Much like a first aid kit, consumers should have an oral care “kit” — the necessary items to maintain good oral health. The kits should be organized by user types: children, adult, and mature adults. Promote it through signage in the department and an endcap with descriptive signs. By user, include:

  • Children: children’s toothbrushes, toothpaste, fluoride treatment, and floss
  • General adults: adult versions of the product types listed for children, as well as mouthwash and breath fresheners
  • Mature adults: the same as general adult product types, but with a focus on items with enamel strengthening attributes, as well as dry mouth remedies, and denture products.

These strategically placed reminders can help build the basket, and, if you include new-to-the-market or new-to-your-store items, you can strengthen loyalty and encourage return trips.

There is significant space dedicated to oral pain relief items in our IN.store oral care planograms unlike the smaller assortment found in big box stores. Take advantage of this niche you fill for your community, letting local dentists and dental surgeons know about the products you carry so they can refer their patients to your pharmacy.
