Many pharmacies have an area they use for seasonal displays. In the summer, this might include an endcap for outdoor games and swim toys.
Here is a handy ordering checklist you can use to make sure you get it right.

  • If you had an Outdoor Games and Swim Toys display last year, check your notes and adjust your ordering accordingly. (If you didn’t take accurate notes, vow to make a swim toyschange this year!) For example, if you ran out of a popular item too early last year, be sure to order more if it is still popular.
  • Check your back stock for last year’s leftovers. Why didn’t they sell? Could you advertise them or put them in a higher traffic location this year?
  • Items backed by strong national advertising dollars may be worth an extra order to ensure you don’t experience out-of-stocks mid-season.
  • Order the basics in lawn games: lawn darts, bocce ball, ladder golf, and bean bag toss.
  • Order the basics in swim toys: squirt toys, noodles, inflatable pools, pails/shovels, and beach balls.
  • Cross-merchandise sunscreen, after-sun products, hair detangler and swim diapers in this section or place this endcap adjacent to the sun care category.

Once you are fully stocked, consider hosting a summer kick-off event with a hotdog roast and in-store activities such as product demonstrations, face painting for children, and a 10% discount on summer games and swim toys. Be sure to remind shoppers with a flier about all of the products and services your store has to offer!
