Wendland to Present Second Videocast of 2014 with GMDC

September 18, 2014By News

September 18, 2014 – Dave Wendland, Hamacher Resource Group (HRG) vice president and member of the owners group, will present Does Need-Based Merchandising Ease Confusion?, an educational videocast for retailers and suppliers sponsored by the Global Market Development Center (GMDC) on September 23 at 1:00pm EDT. The videocast will offer actionable strategies for understanding consumer desires in order to better cater to purchasing preferences.

This is Wendland’s second videocast of 2014 with GMDC, the premier non-profit global trade association dedicated to serving Health Beauty Wellness and General Merchandise retailers, wholesalers and suppliers. His last presentation, Rx-to-OTC:Getting It Right at Retail, was conducted in July. Does Need-Based Merchandising Ease Confusion? will show retailers how to enhance their value by merchandising for consumer need-states. Wendland will discuss tactics to communicate this proposition to shoppers, manage store aisles effectively, and bridge the gap between the pharmacy counter and customers. The videocast will also use examples from other industries to demonstrate the positive effect on register-rings that this unique merchandising approach can generate.

“We’ll address a rather intriguing question: ‘Is category management passe?’” says Wendland. “But need-based merchandising isn’t about rocking the boat. It’s about crafting solutions that allow retailers to build relationships with, and attract and retain, loyal customers.”

Registration for Does Need-Based Merchandising Ease Confusion? is open now, and there is no cost to participate. Viewers of the videocast will also be invited to participate in a question-and-answer session following the presentation. Later this year, Wendland will again partner with GMDC to moderate a panel of retailers that will further explore condition-centric merchandising.
