Hamacher Resource Group Discusses Driving Front-end Profits Through Category Management

Waukesha, Wisconsin – March 23, 2017 – Dave Wendland, vice president, strategic relations, at Hamacher Resource Group, Inc. (HRG) will be presenting the session, “Driving Front-end Profits Through Category Management” at their client, Drogueria Betances’ Annual Pharmacy Business Conference and Trade Show, Friday, March 31, in Puerto Rico. HRG will also be exhibiting at the trade show.

Wendland’s presentation will cover current industry conditions and profit pressures and describe how to maximize sales in the front-end through dedicated category management. In addition to illustrating the bottom line benefits of proper assortment planning, placement strategies, retail pricing management, and more in the front-end, he will highlight how it will also improve the consumer’s shopping experience.

Wendland said, “When category management is properly executed, it can boost sales and profit margin as well as lower costs through inventory reduction of items that don’t warrant the shelf space. Focusing on the front-end is where pharmacies need to be spending their time if they want to compete and grow."

Drogueria Betances, a Puerto Rican drug wholesaler, has been a client of HRG’s since 2015 when they contracted with HRG to create a customized category management program expressly for the Puerto Rican market – the first of its kind. Betances has also worked with HRG to train its team of merchandisers to better assist community pharmacies in optimizing their front-of-store categories through the Hamacher Merchandiser Certification program. The first class of merchandisers earned certification from HRG last year.
