Hamacher Resource Group, Inc. (HRG) recently completed secondary research and authored a white paper for Global Market Development Center (GMDC) and their sponsors examining the current state and future landscape of home health – the shift in care from institutional settings to “wherever the patient is.”

Home health is being fueled by factors including a shortage of primary care physicians and access to better over-the-counter retail options. Healthcare spending growth is projected to average 5.8% between 2015 and 2025.

When looking at the role technology plays in selfcare and home health, it was found that 90% of patients want to self-manage their health care leveraging technology, and 71% of those aged 16 to 24 want wearable technology.

Many more insights are contained within the complete white paper, available to GMDC members. Archived infocasts about the topic, Home Health Parts I & II, presented by Hamacher Research Group, are available on GMDC’s website.

The secondary research for the paper was sponsored by Crossmark, Navajo, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., AmerisourceBergen, BigTime Products, Energizer, Unilever, and Nielsen.
