The difference these days is the content that these advertisements are financing. Television, magazines, the Web, and alternative information channels are riding a wave of personal accountability for health and well-being.
Sandwiched in between commercials for a fast-food dinner with a diet-pill chaser are programs about healthy cooking and eating and healthy exercise, and even wellness-related gardening, home decorating, and vacation ideas.
