WAUKESHA, WI – August 31, 2011 – Hamacher Resource Group, Inc. (HRG), the retail consumer healthcare industry’s premier marketing and research firm, announces the election of HRG Vice President David Wendland to the Board of Directors for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA). Wendland was elected at the March annual conference for a two-year term. CHPA promotes the role of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and dietary supplements in healthcare systems in America. HRG works directly with many manufacturers in the association to help them position, brand, merchandise, and market their products as well as find distribution. In addition, HRG has client relationships with healthcare distributors and retailers which allows them to bring an integral perspective to the association’s mission to ensure safe and responsible use of OTC medicines.

HRG has been an associate member of CHPA since 2002, with Wendland actively participating on the business development committee in most recent years. In his expanded role, he will collaborate with the other board members to offer input and guidance to CHPA leadership, including setting strategic priorities. He is also participating in a special interest task group that is working with the FDA to enhance practices around medications shifting from prescription-only to OTC.

Wendland is a thought leader and nearly 20-year veteran in the health, beauty, and wellness industry. He is a regular contributor to HealthCare Distributor, writes for RetailWire’s BrainTrust Blog, and is asked to speak at several key industry events each year. Among his presentations this year, Wendland spoke at the OTC National Conference held May 10-11, 2011, and moderated two panels at the Healthcare Distribution Management Association’s (HDMA) Business & Leadership Conference held June 5-8, 2011.

Dawn Vogelsang, president of HRG, said “We are thrilled that Dave was elected because CHPA is a well-respected organization that focuses on issues we also believe are critical in the industry. For HRG to have been chosen to be one of the four associate members on the Board is indeed a privilege, as is the opportunity to lend our expertise and contribute our voice to help advocate for this important segment of our industry.”
